Our idea for our music video it based solely on one cast member. However we have not decided who this will be yet so we have a range of possible people to use. The advantage of using one of these people is that they attend our school so it would be easy to get in contact with them as we know there form/class room. Furthermore some of these people are my friends and I spend time with them inside as well as outside of school so meeting up with them should not be an issue. Below is a slideshow of possible cast members that we have shortlisted and we hope to decide on one member shortly.

Website Used To Generate Ideas
The link to the website below helped me to get a better understanding of the whole Indie genre and what it was based upon it explained what a great indie music video consisted of why certain characteristics occurred and this could be used in comparison tot he audience feedback we received from our questionnaires. It also had examples of Indie music videos which I used in part of my music analysis.

Possible Locations
Today we were told by Mr Roberts to consider were we were going to film our music videos. Me and my partner had a discussion and thought it was best if we did our music video in a empty space like a room with nothing in it, a wall as a background or a park. We hope that this will give our music video the subtle but effective look of having very little in the frame and focusing merely on the object or person that is in the frame at the time. If we were considering to film in a park I thought it would be wise to take location shots of these places. The places that we are considering to use as part of our music video are:
• Dulwich Park
• Crystal Palace Park
• Regents Park
• South Bank graffiti wall
• Graveney School Playground
• Pains Hill
• Peninsula park

Audience Research: Questionnaire - Pilot Test
After creating the list of possible Questions that we could ask to our target audience we did a pilot test to five people of different ages and gender. Whilst they filled out the questionnaire we observed them just in case they had any questions to ask or didn’t understand some of the media terminology that was used in the questionnaire such as platforms. Below is a copy of the questionnaire that was created.

Possible Questions for The Questionnaire
Below is a document displaying possible questions to ask our potential target audience. These include there age, gender, hobbies and what they expect from a music video. It is critical that we ask the correct questions as the respondent’s answers will form the base of our music video. This questions are not finalised are were merely created whilst brainstorming with my partner. After this we hope to create an actual questionnaire with specific questions targeted at our audience.

Song Decision
After careful consideration and endless talks with my other group member we have decided to choose the song Youth by Daughter to create a music video for. We both felt that it could be successful if pulled off correctly and the song has slow and fast elements to it making it accessible to vary the camera shots and angles. I would consider the genre of the song to be indie/alternative as it has elements of both however it is more like a song that an indie artist would create.

Media Lesson: Song choices
In Mr Roberts’s lessons we were played 20 different tracks from various artists and from different genres of music we were told only the name of the track, however we were not told the artist name. This was so that we didn’t go on YouTube and search for the visuals that matched the lyrics. We were told to take notes and write down what came to mind when we heard that song and think of how we could create an effective music video if we used the song. There was 5 tracks that really interested me and a had keen concepts to elaborate on.

Change's made to my music video
Unfortunately the group of teenagers that I was going to use as part of my music video will find it hard to meet up at the designated times as one of them is attending university from the end of September while the others have work and school related commitments. Therefore I thought that it would be best to use people that are reliable and that do not have as many commitments; for example people within my school environment. Also I decided to use a song that is not as mainstream or a song that does not yet have a music video. In addition to this I thought that it would be easier to create a successful music video that was of a pop/indie genre compared to grime as there are various ways in which I can experiment with the camera shots and angles.

Why Analse Music Videos?
In Miss Ferdiands lesson we played a game involving us decribing a famous music artist without saying there name. This game demonstrated the importance of genre and music analysis and how certain codes and conventions occur within cetain genres. she then told us that indivually we would have to analyse muic videos that relate to the genre we would base our music videos on in this instance mine would be grime/hip-hop.

Artists similar to my potential music artists
As I am considering to use three individual artists for my music video. I would have to compare them to generic grime/R&B artists. Even though they would be considered a group there are very few grime/R&B bands. The three potential artists I am going to use for my music video, I compared them to someone in the music industry that is similar to them. After careful consideration I thought that the most similar artists currently succeeding in this genre is Chipmunk, Wretch 32, Bashy and Dot Rotten. As they have a similar style music and image hence the reason why I decided to study their music videos further.

Research task: Brainstorming possible artists/bands
Over the six week holidays we were instructed to think of a song, band or artist that were not mainstream that we could create a music video from. My initial idea was to use a group of boys that are aged 17-19 currently they are all at college and enjoy creating music that id of a hip-hop/grime genre. I thought that this would be good to base my music video on as I do listen to this type of music and could easily relate to it. Below is a video of their latest work were they have just created their own clothing label and are trying to promote it through a song.
